God Meant it for Good

Devotional

As Genesis draws to a close, we witness a family finally settled, but not yet home. Israel is safe in Egypt, flourishing under Pharaoh’s provision. Yet the land is not the promise, just a place of waiting. Joseph’s story ends with one of the most profound declarations of God’s sovereignty: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” In a world bruised by betrayal, famine, and fear, God was never absent.

The narrative doesn’t erase sorrow or skip over pain. Instead, it lifts our eyes to a God who redeems. Joseph forgives. Not because the past didn’t hurt, but because he sees a future only God could design. Forgiveness becomes an act of faith, trusting that even evil intentions can’t outmaneuver the goodness of God.
