Day 16

When the Past is Forgotten

Read: Exodus 1-4

Devotional

A power shift always brings change, but this change brings oppression and slavery. A new Pharaoh rises in Egypt, one who has no memory of Joseph’s wisdom or Israel’s contributions. Fear fuels cruelty, and oppression becomes policy. God’s people, once honoured guests, now groan under heavy burdens. But the louder the oppression, the stronger the promise.

God hears. God sees. God knows. These are not passive observations, but the stirring of rescue. A burning bush calls a reluctant shepherd. Moses doubts, argues, and hesitates, yet God persists. Deliverance doesn’t begin with strength, but with a stammering man and a holy promise: “I will be with you.”
