As the Lord appears by the oaks of Mamre, Abraham welcomes Him with generous hospitality. In this sacred moment of fellowship, God repeats His promise that Sarai will bear a son. Sarai laughs, not with mockery but with disbelief soaked in weariness. Her laughter becomes the seed of a miracle. God’s response is both gentle and firm: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” He meets her laughter with faithfulness, turning doubt into joy.

But not all is joyful. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, steeped in violence and pride, face judgment. God listens to Abraham’s intercession, showing that He is just and merciful. Even in the midst of destruction, God extends mercy to Lot, sending angels to lead his family out of danger. Yet Lot’s wife looks back, still tethered to the past, and is lost. There is a sorrow in looking back when God is calling us forward.
