Devotional

God’s redemptive plan narrows its focus to one man, Abram. Out of all the scattered peoples, God calls him to go, to leave behind the familiar and step into a promise not yet fully seen. The call is personal, but the purpose is global: through Abram, all the families of the earth will be blessed. This is not a contract based on performance but a covenant grounded in God’s own faithfulness. Abram’s obedience, though imperfect, becomes the seed of a greater story of grace.

As Abram journeys, we see both faith and fear at play. He builds altars and calls on the name of the Lord, yet also struggles with trust. But even in his weakness, God is patient. And when Abram shows great courage to rescue Lot and chooses not to enrich himself by the world’s standards, we glimpse the character of one learning to walk with God. Melchizedek’s blessing reminds us: true greatness comes not from taking, but from receiving what only God can give.
