In Lubbock, Texas, a simple act of kindness by nail salon owner John Dawkins touched many hearts. When Norma Hernandez, a cancer patient confined to her hospital bed, wished for a manicure and pedicure, several salons declined her request. Moved by her situation, Dawkins and his wife, Tammy, decided to bring their services directly to her bedside. They provided the nail care she desired and spent time with her, offering comfort and companionship. Dawkins, who had lost his own mother to cancer at a young age, felt a deep connection to Hernandez’s experience. Their gesture not only uplifted Hernandez but also inspired others. A woman from Virginia, touched by their story, sent Dawkins a check for $69.30, referencing Psalm 69:30, which speaks of praising God with song and magnifying Him with thanksgiving. Dawkins plans to frame the check as a reminder of the profound impact of small acts of kindness and hopes to encourage others to extend compassion in their own ways.
