Katie stood by the window, smoothing the front of her dress and watching the sun sink low over the rooftops. She had been waiting all week for this day, counting down the hours with excitement bubbling up in her chest. A letter tucked in her pocket still smelled faintly of ink and hope. "Meet me in St. Louis," it had said. Just five simple words, but they had been enough to send her heart soaring.

The World's Fair was the talk of every town, a place filled with wonders from all over the world. She could picture it already, the glowing lights, the towering Ferris wheel, and him standing there waiting for her with a wide smile and a pocket full of dreams. Katie grabbed her small bag and hurried down the lane, the promise of adventure and young love pulling her faster with each step. Tonight was not just a meeting. It was the start of something new, something bigger than the fair or the city itself. It was the start of their story.
