In the heart of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Floribert Bwana Chui Bin Kositi was a government worker known for his unwavering integrity. In 2007, he faced a difficult decision when he discovered that rice intended for distribution, which had come from Rwanda, was spoiled. Rather than allow the contaminated rice into the country, he chose to do the right thing. He refused to let the flawed goods be distributed, despite the immense pressure he faced.

Sadly, this act of honesty came at a high cost. Floribert was kidnapped and tragically lost his life. Yet, his decision to stand up for what was right left a lasting legacy. His story spread, and years later, Pope Francis recognized him as a martyr for his unwavering commitment to justice and social integrity. Today, his legacy lives on through the Floribert Bwana Chui School of Peace in Goma, where young people are taught the values of honesty and justice that Floribert embodied. His story remains a powerful reminder of the impact one individual can have in shaping the moral compass of an entire community.
